I hope that you will have noticed that little by little over the years, I have striven to maintain and enhance the beauty of our church. To identify the change of liturgical seasons the church offers us different colours and one way of expressing this is the use of the altar frontal or antependium.
Fr Eamonn and I have asked Andrew Penson (Penson Ecclesiastical Arts) to produce a reversible altar frontal (Violet and White) to help mark the seasons of Advent and Lent, and Christmas and Eastertide. This will enable the changes to take place easily without the need to get inside the altar every time the season alters. The green fabric marking the Ordinary Sundays of the year will sit inside the altar as it does currently and will not need to be changed.
Andrew has produced a great many of these frontals in this Diocese and others; they are of the finest quality and most worthy for the altar of Our Lord’s Sacrifice. The price will be £1,100.00.
A very generous donation from a parishioner has funded half this cost already. If anyone else wishes to make a contribution, this would be most welcome – perhaps in memory of a loved one? I hope that we would be able to have paid for it in full in time for it to be blessed on the first Sunday of Advent.
Donations can be made in cheque (payable to St Mary Star of the Sea Church and marked ‘for altar’) or cash to the Parish Office. Donations can also be made to the Parish bank account:

Please put ALTAR as the reference, or it will have to be added to the General Offertory.
God bless,
Deacon Duncan
